Bennett University’s first ever fashion show, conducted by the Fashion Society, Panache, took place on day 2 of Uphoria, the university’s annual fest.
The theme of the fashion show was Greek Gods in the Modern Era, which was portrayed beautifully in the costumes worn by the models. The theme followed the story of the banishment of Hades, King of the Underworld and Monstress Medusa. The fashion show concluded their story with the two accepting themselves for who they are, instead of being what their community wanted them to be. This also put out a kind social message to those watching.
The show attracted quite an audience but lasted only ten minutes due to time constraints. Everyone cheered for the models as they walked the ramp to three different songs.
Both Hades and Medusa, as the main characters were dressed in black. Hades was draped in a toga while Medusa wore a velvet dress with her hair down. Both wore gold jewellery with heavy makeup. The other models were dressed similarly.
The walk concluded as all the models came out to the ramp together, followed by the Secretaries of Panache, Esha Yadav and Aishleen Singh as the former clapped for them. The pair took a humble bow and proceeded to lead the models off the stage.
Before the event began, Esha Yadav, Secretary of Panache, told ToB that she was quite tensed about the event. She said, “This is Panache’s first ever event and I really want it to go well. We have worked day and night on this and seeing it actually happen seems kind of surreal.”
One of the models, Akash Jain of B. Tech. 2nd year said, “I had never done a real ramp walk before so I was both excited as well as extremely nervous for the event today. And now that it’s over, I want to do it all over again! I hope Panache keeps organizing more shows like this.”
