Bennett University’s cultural club, Rivaaz, celebrated a virtual Lohri this year. The club organised two competitions- Lohri Di Thaal and Lohri Naal Bhangra to allow the students in different corners of the country to be part of the festivities.

In Lohri Naal Bhangra, participants got a chance to showcase their dance and musical skills on Punjabi songs. Every participant had the option to select one of the categories mentioned in the club’s Instagram story. The club assigned a song based on the chosen theme for the participant to prepare a 30-second reel video showcasing his talent.
The best three videos would be declared winners.

In Lohri Di Thaal, participants got a chance to put in their creativity in decorating the lohri thaal. In this competition, the participant was required to decorate his lohri thaal with peanuts, popcorns and rewaris as compulsory ingredients.

Students participated in the competitions to celebrate the spirit of togetherness with great enthusiasm.

Priyanshu Chatterjee, a 2nd year BJMC student who participated in Lohri Naal Bhangra said, “Celebrating lohri virtually was an amazing experience for me. I appreciate the club to revive the festive vibe.”

Avni Chadha, secretary of Rivaaz, said, “It was not any easy task to celebrate lohri virtually. This was the first time when competitions were organised. But to celebrate this auspicious occasion, these efforts were nothing.”
