'Crusaders' of Kadapa
Synopsis
TheKadapa district of Andhra Pradesh , India has suffered from drought-like conditions for many years. The district's main livelihood comes from agriculture which has been hit hard with the lack of water availability. As a result, the farmers had to dig deeper borewells to safeguard their standing crops but this affected the area's water table overtime.
As seen in the documentary, even after a bountiful monsoon rain, the lack of any water collection infrastructure has led to the rainwater being unusable. The aftermath of monsoon iscrop failure, due to waterlogging, disease caused by stagnant water and snakes surfacing within fields, which makes it unsafe for the farmers.
Despite being surrounded by water there is none for daily use or drinking, eventually causing some villagers to migrate to cities in search of a livelihood.
