Environmental Issues and Corp Social Responsibilities

The current environmental issues that are being faced include-
- Global warming from
fossil fuels- Fossil fuels, which include coal, oil, and gas, are by far the biggest cause of climate change, contributing to more than 75% of all greenhouse gas emissions and almost 90% of all carbon dioxide emissions.
- Food waste- Around 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted or lost. It is enough to feed 3 billion people. It also emits greenhouse gas.
- Biodiversity loss- Decline in biological diversity on earth is not only on land but also on water due to human activities like pollution, land use,etc.
- Plastic pollution- Plastic releases harmful chemicals which can pose a serious risk to humans and environment, including soil, which may then permeate into nearby water sources like groundwater and the environment. The species that consume the water may experience a variety of possibly harmful effects as a result.
- Deforestation- It is caused by expansion, wood extraction, etc.
- Air pollution- This is caused by particles and gasses from factories, cars, wildfires, volcanoes, etc.
- Melting ice caps and sea level rise- As temperature rises,
glaciers melt more quickly than they should. The water ultimately flows into the ocean as these ice masses and glaciers melt, raising the sea level. However, they do not significantly contribute to the increase in sea level. Icebergs and frozen seawater also dissolve in mild weather. Also increasing sea level is dangerous for coastal cities.
- Fast fashion and textile waste- Fast fashion is responsible for a large amount of global waste. Overproducing apparel results in stores having an excess of merchandise, which as the seasons change, is discarded in landfills.
