This week’s theme is South American football
Let’s start with football this week,Graham potter was sacked as Chelsea ’s coach after a disappointing run of games. The incident saw Frank Lampard return as the caretaker manager till the end of the season. They’ve been really inconsistent this season and need to get things going if they want to play European football in the near future. Arsenal drew 2-2 to Liverpool after a late header from the clutch Bobby Firmino which blows the PL title race wide open now. Real Madrid won 4-1 against Barcelona to reach Copa Del Rey Semi-finals but lost 3-2 to Villarreal the very next match. Inconsistency is what has been scaring them all season long, Barcelona now have the chance to have a 15 point lead in LaLiga
European Football is one aspect of football which has been given all the commercial attention in the past two decades and garners all the big money deals. South American football has always been seen as a secondary option for the fans and has never been truly acknowledged for it’s talent whereas it is one of the most important parts of modern football.Brazil is the country which produces the most no of football players who eventually play all over the world. South American football has also produced some of the most iconic players in football history including Maradona , Pele , Messi and Neymar. Joga bonito which means “The Beautiful Game” is also a term which was popularised by Pele. Argentina winning the world cup helped South America regain it’s lost jewel. South American football garnering more attention will only help modern football as a whole and spread the magic of beautiful game to every corner of the world.
