It’s Ok to Be “Uncool”

BY MANSI TIBREWAL

Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Alex who found it increasingly difficult to connect with others in today's society. Everywhere Alex turned, he saw egos and a lot of self-respect disguised as attitude, making it challenging to understand and be understood by others.

One day, Alex realized that friendship was underrated and that the idea of dying for one another had long been forgotten. Nowadays, being cool was all that mattered, and if you weren't cool, you weren't worthy of talking to the "in" crowd. If you were studious and excelled in academics, people automatically assumed that you didn't have fun.

According to society's unwritten rules, a "nerd" couldn't attend parties, have a boyfriend or girlfriend, or be considered cool. But what society failed to realize was that whom they call "nerds" were often the ones who helped others when they needed it the most.

Alex, being someone who couldn't say no, was always there to help others, even if it meant sacrificing his own happiness. And even though society didn't see it, Alex knew that being a true friend meant putting others first and being there when they needed you the most.

In the end, Alex realized that it was okay not to be cool in other people's eyes, as long as you are true to yourself and are there for the people who matters to you the most. And as time went on, Alex found that true friends were the ones who stood by you, even when society deemed you "uncool."

Amidst ego's guise, Alex sought connection,
In a society filled with self-respect's projection.
Friendship underrated, sacrifices forlorn,
Coolness defined worth, understanding torn.

Society's rules deemed "nerds" unfit,
Unseen were the helping hands they'd commit.
Alex, selfless and kind, never turned away,
Putting others first, happiness in delay.

Being true mattered more, coolness aside,
True friends stood strong, with hearts open wide.
In the end, Alex learned society's cruel decree,
Uncool by their standards, but free to be.
