Protests in Israel

These protest inIsrael have been happening since 2019 under the government of Benjamin
Netanyahu because of the Judicial Reforms Bill. The reason given by the government behind
bringing this judicial reform is that all the decisions passed by theSupreme Court of Israel are
left leaning and due to this conflict of interest between the judiciary and the government they
want some powers of the judiciary under the government. According to this reform the judge
electing committee will now have 3 members of the government meaning that the country's
judiciary which was independent will now be obligated to follow government’s rules.
People and the opposition think bringing this reform to power means weakening a pillar of
democracy which is the judiciary and it will lead to the development of authoritarianism.
Now American is taking advantage of these protests to improve relations between Israel and
America by funding left leaning party for protests and helping them to come into power as
before the relation between Israel and America was at its peak because both the government
were right leaning but now as the government has changed in US and is now a left leaning
government they want left leaning party rule in Israel too.
