Season 9 RuPaul's Drag Race is the Best!

Episode 1 of RuPual's Drag race with guest judge Lady Gaga. 'Queer people love Lady Gaga' is an understatement. we practically worship Gaga. There are several reasons to support the fact a few of them being her out of the box fashion sense, her amazing music and finally her love and respect for the queer community.

The episode began like all the other seasons with RuPaul dramatically announcing the start of the show and the queens entering. What I didn't know at that time that season 9was going to end up being my all-time favourite season of drag race with few of the most entertaining and talent bunch of queens who will go down in the hall of fame. My top favourites from the season were Sasha Velour who was the fashionably bald queen, with her unique perspective of modern art and drag combined was the winner of season 9. Shea Coule who "didn't come to play, I came here to Slay!". Entering with this line and exuding confidence and fierceness Shea Coule came 2nd runner up in the finale but went on to win Season 5 of All Stars, a different franchise of the Drag Race family in which queen who had previously competed come to fight again for the crown. They are maybe my top two pick for favourite queens but when it comes to make-up skills or what they call in drag terms 'Painting the mug' my favourite queen is Nina Bonina Brown who places 6th in the competition. She was not only an amazing performer but and even more extraordinary makeup artists who showed that with unconventional materials like paper can be incorporated in makeup looks and completely change how the look. Drag in itself a way to make a new character with clothing and make up but Nina took it to the next level for me.

So whenever I need to introduce someone to RuPaul's Drag race I always show them the first episode of season 9 because I know it is a sure fire way of making them fall in love with the show, just like me.
