Stop doing this to yourself!

By Parkhi Mahajan

"Ah, I wish I looked a little bit more like her/him" or "Oh, I don't have a great wardrobe like him/her". No, don't do this to yourself. Comparing yourself to people around you every single time is the worst thing. Being moved by others is one thing but striving to be exactly like the other will not get you very far.
This kind of thinking stems from your misconceptions, making you think you are nowhere. The point is nobody can be perfect and you should focus on your individuality.
Jealousy is human nature, we all want what others want but there's a limit to that. Copying other's body language just to prove yourself won't let you shine on your own.
One example is going shopping the next day after your friend got a new bag or a pair of shoes. It can easily make you happy but for just a day or two. You can't go on spending money every other time just because you think that you'll be at par with others. It's sheer stupidity! You'll cannot run out of your own budget to look great as someone around you.
Another example is criticizing yourself unstoppably because you have already made up your mind that you are not as talented as the other person. You are talented and capable, so much more than you think. All you need to do is work on your weaknesses a little by little, everyday. Choose progress over perfection.
The first step to shape your individuality is be self aware about your uniqueness and strengths. This will boost your self esteem. Being confused about yourself will only stress you out. Just stay true to yourself and do exactly what you feel is right.
After all why is it so hard for you to be YOU?
