Survival Of The Fittest

By Shourya Mittal

The first thing that comes on our mind after hearing survival of the fittest is usually related to Biology and the process of natural selection, but is it the only thing ?? Nowadays it is present there in every field, especially in MNCs and startups which layoff thousands of jobs every year.

Today, our ability to survive depends more on our ability to adapt to the continual social and technological change. Nowadays people with the most skills are preferred even if it the skill isn't necessary for the respective job . To survive ,people must adapt their knowledge and abilities to a variety of novel, unusual situations in addition to meet the unpredictable and changing demands of their roles. The skills that students are being taught with the assignments during college help them at the time of these jobs. The fact that organizations don’t just rank applicants according to their grades but conduct a series of assessments and interviews, suggests to me that they want something more than grades.

Charles Darwin was right when he said, “It is not the strongest of the species nor the most intelligent that survives, it is the one that is most adaptable to change.”
