The Conscience of Consciousness

By Adrija Chakraborty
Some say that love is the greatest virtue. It can cure the deepest of wounds. It can stop the cruelest battle. It can bring people into a safe place, a peace of mind. But this power of love can most certainly be defied by the existence of consciousness over oneself.
The awareness of how you look, eat, sleep, talk, walk, even think and all other little intricate details which leads to overthinking. Even the invisible or minute negativity to be ever spotted heightens the rate of overthinking, and let me tell you, it affects not only mentally but also physically. You will question every step of your life. You will start hating your own skin and feel the positivity of enjoying your life drain out. Maybe its out of expectations or the stereotypical views we grew up with. As if it was imposed upon us from the very beginning. Women should have a slim and beautiful body. Men should be muscular and have abs. Though its not only the looks I am talking about but yeah overall it’s a broader prospective. The way we spend our time, looking in a mirror at how a dress should fit instead of how its actually fitting? That’s not what we should question at all.
Insecurity is an emotional state where we often cannot control how or what we feel. Maybe there will always be a part in our mind, where it will linger forever. But sometimes letting loose is also a part of life. Being comfortable in your own skin, environment and of course with the people around is a hard thing. Loving oneself is the best way to live freely. Whether it is a dress, food, gifts, or pampering yourself to a point of happiness is the right way to treat yourself.
