Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar , abbreviated as TJMM, is a 2023 Indian hindi language romantic comedy film directed byLuv Ranjan and written by Rahul Mody, Luv Ranjan. Produced by Luv Films and T- Series Films, it stars Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, alongside Dimple Kapadia, Anubhav Singh Bassi and Hasleen Kaur in key supporting roles.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar received mixed reviews from critics. On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 36%, with an average score of 6.9/10, based on reviews from 11 critics.
Taran Adarsh rated the film 4 out of 5 stars and termed the film as a "refreshing take on romance and relationship" and praised Ranjan's direction. Himesh Mankad of Pinkvilla rated the film 4 out of 5 stars and wrote "Ranbir-Shraddha’s love story celebrates family emotions with comedy".
Personally, the movie doesn't live up to hype for me. The story like any other classic Luv Ranjan movie lacks the most important thing the movie plot followed by variety of flashy and un-needed song placements in the movie. The movie is a masala film and is good for one-time watch but lacks the material to be classic, remembered movie for the audience.
The movie is able to survive due to Arijit Singh songs and Ranbir and Shraddha's visuals and fun chemistry. If given a movie that's more realistic and properly uses their chemistry can really lead the movie to success. But alas the movie highlights the importance of family hence, making it a good watch on the weekend with friends.
