Why don't you start with your own country?

By Parkhi Mahajan
"Dad, why don't you plan trips abroad?" I remember asking this question to my dad a thousand times. He always replied to me "Start traveling within your own country, first." I kind of agree with him now. India is incredible in terms of beauty, you just need to explore it. Here are some places you must visit:
1) Jammu and Kashmir: You should travel to this fairyland with your family. You can plan a trip for about a week. You can explore the Dal Lake for starters and find souvenirs in the local streets. Next on your list should be the most talked about gardens from the Mughal's rule- Shalimar Baagh, Nishat Bagh, Pari Mahal etc. Don't forget Chashma-shaahi. Sonmarg and Gulmarg are also one of the most visited sites.
After Srinagar your next stop should be Pahalgam which is referred to as the Mini Switzerland of India. People visit Pahalgam for it's scenic beauty. It's river is absolutely surreal.
2) Sikkim The north-eastern part of our country is so underrated. Gangtok's streets make you feel like you're in a totally different dimension of India. Temples and monastries, here are a source of attraction. The Greenery is mesmerizing. I am sure you have heard of Darjeeling, and you can not miss it. There are so many places to travel within.
3) Meghalaya It is greener than you can think! There are so many waterfalls that will blow your minds. I can go on about the seven sisters waterfall but I want you to see it from your own eyes. I bet you'll love the weather there. Your first stop definitely should be Shillong. Moving on, to your next destination that should be Cherrapunji. It recie3ves the heaviest rainfall in India throughout the year. Don't miss out boating on India-Bangladesh borders!
4) Goa It's the most popular tourist attraction. From it's sunset beaches to it's nightlife, Goa is on everybody's list. You can start with relaxing on the beaches and then gradually shift to watersports! If you're in Goa how can you not buy Cashews? You must visit the churches and forts. Do your research.
5)Andaman and Nicobar Islands I can go on and on about this surreal destination. Starting with it's history the Cellular jail should be your first stop even before the beaches. Do not miss the Light and Sound show. The beaches in Port Blair are relaxing and serene. You can't miss your ride to Subhash Chandra Bose Island (earlier known as Ross Island) and the North-bay Island. Do not skip Neil or Havelock Island to make your trip shorter. They are extremely beautiful.
