BU celebrates Independence Day with fervour
An array of activities – flag hoisting, cultural programmes, film show and a ‘pajama party’ – marked the Independence Day celebrations at the Bennett University campus on Wednesday, 15 August 2018.

Addressing students on the 72nd Independence Day, Bennett University’s Vice Chancellor Prof Raghunath K Shevgaonkar defined the real meaning of freedom. “The real meaning of independence would only be realised when our nation would be free of corruption and all other negatives that bring down a country,” said the Vice Chancellor.

After the flag hoisting ceremony, students from Adveta and Spic-Macay clubs gave lively performances. The university’s cultural committee organised various games and events on the special occasion for the students like Stack Attack, Water Pong and Flip the Cup. Poorva Singh, a student of the School of Media and Liberal Arts student, “It was a fun experience, we got a chance to mingle with a lot of people and it was well organized.”

To add to the patriotic fervour of the day, cultural committee of the university screened movie Rang De Basanti for the students. “There is so much chaos and pain in the nation, somewhere somehow I have lost faith in the system. But I have faith in me, you and all of us can come together and realize the meaning of independence,” said Ayera Choudhary, School of Law student. The enthusiasm in students did not end even after the day celebrations; to close the day the cultural committee planned a party for the students.

Aditya Misra, School of Media and Liberal Arts student, said, “Independence day has never been so enthusiastic. Joyful experiences and a great vibe made my day.”
