Former ace cricketer, Ajay Jadeja who was the guest of honour at Bennett University’s concluding day of the Times Sports League, said sports teaches everyone about the true value of team spirit.

“When you’re on the field, everybody is equal. There is no age barrier or power play. It turns you into a family and makes you realise the value of team spirit,” he said while congratulating the contestants on stage.

The two-day sports event that concluded on February 16 saw the participation of 10 companies and over 40 teams in six categories.

At the two-day event, corporates contested in various sports such as table tennis, badminton, carrom, chess, cricket and football.

A special session on Zumba conducted by students of Bennett University (BU) helped boost the energy of the contestants for they had been playing without much rest over the last two days.

RJ Arjit hosted the cultural evening, which began with Ganesh Vandana sung by Sanjana Mehra. Arjit kept everyone entertained with his wit and humour.

Ms Heena Verma, Head, Learning and Organisation Development, Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd said, “Over 1,000 applicants were received for the Times Sports League and out of 850 people who competed, 150 made it to the finals.”

Along with RJ Arjit, the students of BU also entertained the participants with dance and music. The audience was treated to a fusion of western and classical dance as well as solo acts by the students, which earned them much appreciation.

Ms Jyoti from Times Internet HR team and a recipient of bronze medal in badminton said, “The event was brilliantly coordinated and I had an amazing time being a part of it. This is something that should happen more often as it gives us a break from our hectic work life. I will cherish these two days.”

Clearly, the event could not have been a success without the help of the volunteers. Anushi Chauhan, FY BBA student who was part of the volunteering team, said, “It was exciting, I got the opportunity to learn more about other games and I really liked the enthusiasm of the participants.”

Appreciating the efforts of the Times Group, Jadeja said, “Today, the youth and the working population are embracing sports and learning from it.”

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony with Times Internet emerging as winners with a lead of 4510 points followed by Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd, and Times Solutions at the second and third places, respectively.
