Bennett University’sfirst Squash Tournament held from January 28th to February 14th was quite an eventful one. It was one of the longest tournaments yet, lasting 17 days in total with over 80 participants. There were three categories for the final matches: Third Place (Men), First Place (Women) and First Place (Men), all quite intense.
Before the start of the matches, first place finalist Shaurya Chauhan of Keen Kickers said, “I’m very excited to play my firstsquash tournament final here. It has been a very exciting journey and I can’t wait to see what happens next.” He then proceeded to win his match after several very intense rounds, wherein his opponent once also threw his racquet to the ground out of frustration and slipped to fall on his back another time.
The matches took place one-by-one, refereed by Kashish Suneja of B. Tech 3rd Year, who proclaimed that refereeing these matches was tough. Other winners were Tejas Parikh of Super Spades for Third Place Men’s category and Avishka Sharma from Heroic Hearts for First Place Women’s category. After winning her match, ToB asked for Avishka’s experience for the same, who said, “It was a very wholesome experience, getting to know your opponents, doing warm-ups with them, and even laughing with them. However, at the end of the day, competing with them as well. Such tournaments should keep happening.”
