The organizers of the Jaipur Literature Festival 2021 commissioned the Semester VI BJMC students from the Times School of Media to blog various sessions at the event. For the students, who are specializing in digital media, it was an opportunity to showcase the skills they have learned as part of their course.

Apporva Sharda, a third-year student of BJMC said, “It was a great learning experience for me. It was a culmination of my knowledge and practical skills which I applied while carrying out the tasks. Covering such events would prove beneficial for my future job opportunities.” Among the many sessions, Apoorva covered the session titled, “Unfinished”, which was based on Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ book of the same name.

Over the course of the exercise, several sessions were identified for which the student bloggers were required to write in-depth reports on the discussions. The students attended sessions ranging from books on spirituality to Bollywood to national and international politics along with some interesting sessions of books based on history and religion.

Before being published on the JLF site, each student was required to send their blogs to specific faculty mentors who guided them on how to improve and make work more readable. The final versions of the blogs were then sent for publication.

Of the 22 sessions identified for the students to cover, as many as 11 were published on the JLF site. The remaining were used to create thematic blogs as well as press releases. Esha Yadav, also a semester VI student of BAJMC, said, “I watched around 15 sessions and there was something to learn in each one. The sessions were 45 minutes long and we were given three hours to complete our blogs.”

“At first I was kind of nervous if I’d be able to do it well. But the sessions turned out to be interesting. There was so much to learn not only in terms of how to write but from the guest speakers as well. I felt great because I came out as a different person with a good knowledge about many things which I think I would’ve never appreciated without these sessions,” said Nikita Roy, another student who was part of the live project.

Some of the student blogs that can be accessed on the JLF site:

1.Across Genres: Classical, Folk and Popular Folk

2.Maoism: A Global History

3.The spread of Buddhism

4.Feminist Reframed

5.Of the People, For the People

6.Experiencing the Goddess: On the Trail of the Yoginis – BOOK LAUNCH

7.Method in the Madness- An Insider-Outsider-Insider Speaks – BOOK LAUNCH

An annual affair, the Jaipur Literature Festival brings together authors and readers to discuss new books. This year, the event took place online from February 19, 2021 to February 28, 2021 and had more than 140 sessions spread across the 10 days.
