BU bookworms play and win in the library
Bennett University students from Times School of Media and School of Management took a deep dive into the world of books on 24 September 2019, day two of the inaugural LibQuest’19 competition.

Three of the students – Saumya Mishra, Aditya Raj Jai and Mishti Menon – emerged as winners of various competitions. While Saumya (Times School of Media) bagged the first prize,Aditya (School of Management) and Mishti (TSOM) finished as runners-up in the Pictionary contest and two quizzes, Literary and Current Affairs.

The first prize was for Rs 5,000 while the runners-up received Rs 3,000 each.

Dr. Sanjay Kataria, BU’s Head Librarian, who organised the three-day event, said: “I see children flood the library only during exam times. But a library can be a fun place too, if we offer a friendly environment. LibQuest19’s attempt has been to draw students and volunteers to the library to enjoy.”

‘University Librarian of the Year Award’ (HE HAS RECEIVED THIS AWARD FROM WHOM?said that the event was aimed at bringing students closer to the library.

Guessing it Right

Pictionary, the first round of the LibQuest involved participants in book guessing through various pictorial clues.

The participants were expected to understand the clues and find the corresponding book in the library and submit the same with library officials and volunteers.

Gulliver’s Travel and Bollywood’s Most-loved Villains were some books that the participants could guess correctly.

Jaswant Reddy and Ajaith Sai, School of Management, BBA-Second Year was the first team to guess Gulliver’s Travels.

Jaswant, a book lover said, “clues get easier to understand when you guess the genre correctly, after that getting the right book is the next agenda, you can be lucky to get the right book in a blink of an eye or you can look for it in the similar books but can’t find your desired book.”

“To win a person need not be an avid reader, one has to be aware of his surrounding and literary environment to win the competition,” Jaswant said.

Test That Knowledge

Nikhil Mahipal, School of Engineering, B.Tech- fourth year student and also Head Organiser, LibQuest said, “Pictionary is over, it’s time for the quiz. It is not a simple quiz by any means. The quiz is set on the standards of Harvard Business Review and would put contestants in a tight spot while attempting the quiz.”

The quiz tested participants’ general awareness and their inclination towards business and commerce.

Some questions involved guessing the right link to a website while others were general questions on every-day trade and commerce.

The second day of the LibQuest’19 came to an end with great thrill and excitement as each school gears up for the all-out competition on the third day.
