BU students try out old-style romance

Pulse, the event management club of Bennett University organized ‘Blind Date’ on September 18.

The concept was not only unique, but also a fairly new one for the students of the university.

Aditi Tyagi, the Joint Secretary of Pulse, said, “The purpose behind the event was to remind the students of the good old days of conventional dating and pull them out of the chains of the new age online dating.”

A total of 32 people participated in the event; 16 boys and 16 girls. The pairs were made at random by picking chits, and the competition was spread over three rounds.

The first round involved the pairs to guess the name of the movie from hearing an instrumental version of a song from that movie. The pairs hummed to the tunes of ‘Mitwa’ from ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ and ‘Mast Magan’ from ‘2 States’ as they attempted to guess the names of the movies.

The second round was divided into two parts. Each part involved all the pairs participating in a treasure hunt. The pairs were given chits, which contained a riddle written in the form of a poem. Each poem corresponded to a location on campus where the pairs had to reach and get a chit for the second part of the treasure hunt.

All the pairs managed to reach the final round of the competition, which was freeze dancing.

The pairs danced to the tunes of ‘Kala Chashma’ from the movie ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ and ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran.

In the end, the result was decided after adding up the scores that each pair scored throughout the three rounds of the competition.

The winning pair was of Rishabh Bansal and Saumyata Tyagi of B.Tech third year and BA-LLB first year, respectively. The Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Pulse club, Vaibhav Chauhan and Aditi Tyagi, felicitated them with sashes and coffee mugs.
