Bennett University ’s Comedy Club organized its first-ever comedy carnival , Hasgulla , on May 7, 2022, at the campus with the objective to create a fun and humorous environment.
Secretary of Comedy Club Samarth Jhunjhunwala, who is a law 2nd year student, said, “The objective of organizing this event was to spread humour around the campus; so I decided to conduct a stand-up night to engage with students and create a fun environment.”
The Comedy Carnival was organized in two sections; first, a workshop was conducted for the interested students; this was followed by a stand-up event in the evening. Pawan Singh, a stand-up comedian from Gurgaon, was invited to host the workshop and judge the event.
Eight students participated in the stand-up event. Each participant was given 6 to 7 minutes to exhibit their comic talent on the stage. The winner of the show Vinayak Joshi was awarded with an Amazon voucher of Rs 1,500. Aditya Joshi ,who was the runner up, was awarded with an Amazon voucher of Rs 1,000.
The organisers were thrilled with the reaction of the audience. Secretory Samarth commented, “I did not expect a gathering of more than 200 students. It was an amazing response and we hope to come up with more such stand-ups in the future.”
