CBI has huge responsibility: PM Modi at Chintan Shivir

PM Modi inaugurated Central Bureau of Investigation's 60th diamond jubilee celebrations and Chintan Shivir at Vigyan Bhavan on Monday, April 3.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "In the form of the country's premium investigation agency it has completed 60 years' journey. These six decades consisted of many achievements."

He called CBI a "multi-dimensional" and "multi-disciplinary" investigating agency. "The aim of making India advanced is not possible without professional and efficient institutions. Therefore, CBI has a huge responsibility."

The PM emphasised on how the scope under which the investigation agency worked has broadened over time and is now dealing with issues like cyber-crime. A session on the same was held in the latter half of the event.

Before his speech, PM Modi also inaugurated new offices in three different locations of the country - Nagpur, Shillong and Pune - and the CBI's new Twitter handle.

He released a commemorative coin of Rs 60 and a postage stamp dedicated to the CBI. Around 20 officers were also presented with President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Gold Medal for Best Investigating Officers.

The event was later followed by panel discussions, the first one being in Labyrinth of Banks Frauds and Ponzi schemes paneling and the second one being Cyber Enabled Crime.

Twenty five students of Bennett University were also invited to attend the event at Vigyan Bhawan.
