Central Perk the centre of attraction at BU

Celebrating 25 years of FRIENDS, Comedy Central India brought the world-famous Central perk setup from the show to Bennett University on the 23rd of September.
The stage was adorned by the bright orange couch where Ross, Chandler, Joey, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe spent some memorable moments in the TV series and the memorable windows of Central Perk. This was Comedy Central’s third College Pop-Up event in India.
The organisers reached the University early morning to set up the stage. The crew also brought along foosball tables for sum extra fun at the event. Registration desks for photo sessions on the iconic couch were also set up. The event started at 12:30, just as students poured out of their classes for the lunch break.
Comedy Central had also set up a photo station which printed the students’ photos with the crowd and various placards containing some of the most famous quotes from the characters. Before leaving the organisers also gave away free merchandise to some lucky students.
The hosts received a rapturous reception, with the students’ enthusiasm making it clear that they were huge fans of the show. The organisers also quizzed the crowd. The winners of the FRIENDS trivia got a spot on the couch with their friends, who would also go on for a game of Pictionary. The hosts and the crowd also sang along to “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts, the iconic theme song of the TV show.
