'Opinionated ,' organized by Cerebrum at Bennett University on February 27, 2024, is an extempore oration event designed to celebrate the power of opinion and its impact on shaping the world we live in today.
In "Opinionated," participants embark on a thrilling journey of eloquence and persuasion, delivering impassioned two-minute speeches on past opinionated topics that have left an indelible mark on history. These topics range from socio-political issues to cultural phenomena, challenging participants to delve into the complexities of human thought and action. Some of the controversial topics that stole the limelight included the central government's role in curbing Manipur riots and Jawaharlal Nehru's decision to let go of Aksai Chin.
The competition's format was both dynamic and engaging. "I am really excited for my turn; this is a very rare opportunity where we are allowed to discuss and debate such sensitive issues," said Rahul Saxena.
Participants eagerly awaited their turn as they randomly picked chits to discover their assigned topic. Once revealed, there's no turning back—changing topics was strictly prohibited, adding an element of spontaneity and excitement to the proceedings. Each participant was granted a brief 30-second window to gather their thoughts upon receiving their topic, after which they had to captivate the audience with their oratory prowess.
"Opinionated isn't just about showcasing rhetorical prowess—it's about celebrating the diversity of perspectives, fostering meaningful dialogue, and honoring the profound influence of opinion in shaping our collective narrative," said Adamyaveer Jain, Joint Secretary of Cerebrum.
'Opinionated,' a pre-Aalekh event, offered a platform where voices were amplified, ideas were exchanged, and the power of opinion took center stage.
