Media students visit Times of India printing press
BAJMC Students along with their teachers and Times of India Printing Press team at the plant office in Sahibabad.
As part of the Business of Print course, BAJMC Semester II students visited the printing press in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh, on June 7, 2022. Twenty two students got a chance to see how a printing press operates and learnt about the various schemes introduced by the Times of India to enhance the reader experience and deliver the newspaper on time. The students were welcomed by Mr Manish Sinha, Plant Head of Sahibabad.

Students toured the printing press and witnessed the various stages – prepress, press, and post press – of printing operations. They were shown how a a printed image is converted into an image carrier such as a plate. The team at Sahibabad also shared the challenges they faced during COVID-19 and the safety measures they undertook to keep the press operational after the lockdown.

The comment of a student summed up the objective of the trip: “After coming here, I know that Print media is not dying”.

The trip fulfilled the objectives of the course by helping students understand the printing process and TOI’s efforts in printing innovations.
