The National Service Scheme (NSS) conducted a movie night Cinemingle for the students of Bennett University on the fourth day of the National Youth Week to celebrate the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and encourage youth engagement.

“We showed four movies that we thought would encourage students - 12th Fail, Chhichhorey, 3 Idiots and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,” NSS member Nikshay Sharma said. The movies had the common theme which encouraged students to soldier through their hardships and pursue their dreams. He also said that one of the purposes of the Youth Week is to engage students in fun activities and this movie night helped them do just that.

The movies were shown in classrooms NLH 101,102,103 and 104. These are big classrooms which can accommodate around 250 students in one class. “We are expecting a turnout of around 800 students,” Nikshay said before the commencement of Cinemingle. There was a buzz around the campus before the movies started. The tuck shop was filled with students waiting in lines to buy their snacks for the movie.

The students had their eyeballs glued to the screens and had their hands acting as a claw machine that picked and dropped food from their snack bags to their mouth. The fact that students got to watch college themed movies on campus along with their batchmates added to the immaculate atmosphere across the four classrooms.

“It was a lively night. Students singing along to the songs made the experience interactive and enjoyable,” Afreen, a first-year liberal arts student, said. She pointed out that some people were shouting out famous dialogues during the films scenes which was a new experience to her.

This was just one of the events that the NSS conducted. Therepart, Versecraft and Takeshi’s Castle were the other events that were conducted during the first three days of the Youth Week. The students are now looking forward to the fifth day which is packed with exciting events. “I’m looking forward to Bookverse that will take place on the January 18,” Sarvagya, a BTech firsr-year student, said.
