Early morning today, the Bennett University mess opened its door for students to have their first Ramadan meal. Students came with their friend groups, joking around and full of energy, while others basked in the calm environment of the mess and enjoyed their food.

The mess prepared their food just a few hours before the students were to arrive. A group of eight mess workers stayed to get everything in order for the students. The ‘Sehri’ that is to be provided to the students during Ramadan is going to be the same food on the menu that is planned for everyone.

“We started making the food at 2:00 am for the special early batch. The menu is the same for them and the 7:30 am batch but we got started on their food first,” said Sushant Dhaali, a member of the mess staff working the early morning shift.

Before getting their food, the students were required to register in the mess. According to Aasifa Parveen, a second-year BBA student, the students were pleased with the mess for setting special timings for food to cater to them for Ramadan.

“The food is filling and healthy enough to keep me going through the day, I am glad they set the special timings for Ramadan even though there aren’t many people who registered, it is easier than finding food or saving food to eat in the early morning,” said Aasifa Parveen.

The mess held an air of warmth compared to the weather outside. The day had just started but it was also the start of a month-long celebration for many.
