Public Relations is quite a popular career choice amongst many students these days thanks to the diverse opportunities and experiences the job provides. Therefore, Times School of Media invited its alumni working in the field to share valuable industry insights with their juniors.

Devshree Gauri Shukla, Aadya Gupta, Vidhu Goswami were the invited guest speakers for the seminar. In order to motivate the students in the audience they started off by discussing their personal struggles and journeys.
“As an average student who had graduated in the covid year there were very few opportunities available to me therefore at first, I did PR only because I had to pay my bills somehow. Somehow the journey from starting it just for the sake of it to liking it and finally falling in love is a journey and I feel that if I can navigate through that you all can do it as well” said Devshree Gauri Shukla who is currently working as the Senior Account Executive at Archetype.

The noted Alumni also discussed in detail the true meaning of PR, its role in silently building brands, navigating backlash as a PR professional and frequently reading newspapers and headlines to thrive in the profession. They also organized a competition in the seminar where the students had to write impressive media pitches to journalists for a product assigned to them.

All the audience was kept engaged by the group discussions, competitions and feedbacks on the said pitches. Triveni Mahajan a second-year journalism student said “As someone who aims to become a journalist in the future this workshop helped me understand how to critically evaluate the media pitches done by PR professionals”.
This seminar was a part of a larger three day student-alumni conference called ‘Future Forward’ organized by the Placement Board of the Times School of Media , Bennett University on 17th, 18th and 19th April.
