New Delhi: Pandemic has made us shift from brands to tracks, heels to sneakers and from work wear to lounge wear.

Fashion has acted as a barrier to be broken in stressful times. Comfort clothing during these times became the vehicle of confidence.

One of the major trends during the pandemic was that people started taking their mental health seriously. This, in turn, led them to let their imagination loose in the clothing category too.

The trend of over-sized T-shirts, hoodies and ’90s baggy jeans returned to make a fresh fashion statement.

“Fashion trends keep coming in a different way, which tends to draw attention and get hyped! If there will be no change in the trends launched by brands, then there will be less sales,” Deepti Goel, owner of Studio by Deepti, says.

The pandemic, she added, did revolutionize fashion, including day-to-day clothing. “People, especially teenagers, now prefer wearing tracks, over-sized hoodies rather than the fitting clothes which they were wearing.

The pairing of crop tops with high-waist boyfriend jeans or wearing loose T-shirts with baggy pants also have established themselves as a high-outgoing fashion trend,” Goel says. Social media, specifically influencers and celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens and many more, promote the idea that outdoor clothing can be comfortable and classy at the same time.

Sharing her views on social media powering fashion, Goel said, “brands tend to hire influencers to increase their engagement and attract customers. As people are familiar with the influencers, they get attracted to the type of clothing they propel,” she added.

The post-pandemic effects have not only been witnessed on health but on fashion as well. “People initially refused to spend income on luxury products due scaled down earnings and job losses, but upcoming trends did attract them to do so. Small businesses came up, selling trendy clothes at affordable prices, which made them accessible to everyone,” she said.

This comfortable style of clothing has also lessened body insecurities, shaming issues and have shown a positive impact on the mental health and confidence levels of youngsters and adults alike, Goel concluded.
