The need to free gender of patriarchy

You would think that the term gender equality has everything to do with women, but it is actually a path to freedom, irrespective of gender. Gender equality helps us to break free from the notions of patriarchy whose stereotypes has not only shackled women but also men. If you ask what good will gender equality do to men, because they aren't the affected group, well, gender equality results into higher levels of happiness, and the latter seems to affect everyone. Men may be the privileged group, and hence, might not feel the need for gender equality, but they must not forget that the world they live in consists of both- privileged and unprivileged people, that runs on a balance between the two. Gender equality helps to achieve that balance.
