An enthralling musical evening was held at Bennett University on the 8th of November. Shaam-e-Sangeet saw music societies of YMCA, Hansraj College and LSR, Delhi University along with Advaita perform Sufi, Indian, and Western songs late into the night. The event was organized by the university’s music club, Advaita.

The night started off with Sufi performances. YMCA’s Anupam Dhonchak, who is also a former Advaita member was the first to perform. He was warmly greeted by the students and former club members. His performance was followed by Somdyuti Das, BAJMC first year student, impressing the crowd with her mesmerizing voice.

Sufi gave way to Indian classical and Bollywood music, Shubrai Jain and Jaikaa Patnaik taking to the stage then. Hansraj college were the next to jam out the session, followed by Pranshu and Apurva Gouri from LSR.
The last part of the event was Western Music, BAJMC first year student Malika Sahni moving the crowd with her rendition of James Arthur’s hit ‘Naked’. LSR’s Apurva Gouri took to the stage again for a solo performance. First year students Adarsh Agarwal and Uzma Hussain closed out the night.

YMCA’s Anupam was pleased at the opportunity to perform at Bennett. “The event went well, really well. The crowd was fantastic, even though it was so windy, they stayed back the entire night. The late trip was definitely worth it,” he said.

“Basically this was to relieve stress from students’ day to day life as there are many projects and assignments and the tests are round the corner,” Advaita core member Jahanavi Manchanda said. “Also the other reason for this was to collaborate with music societies of different colleges. We had students performing from Hansraj college, LSR and YMCA. This was Advaita’s biggest event and we did not collaborate with any club, it was done single handedly by Advaita,” she said.
