An evening to cherish
By Khushi Pal
The first day ofUphoria , Bennett University ’s very own college fest kicked off with a bang with new faces coming from various colleges of Delhi-NCR to join the Bennettians to celebrate the two-day extravaganza of fun, music and dance on Friday, 8 February.
The night was indeed young, with the students flashing their best outfits, girls sauntering in their highest heels and grooving to the beats of the two most popular musicians- Italian DJOlly Esse and India’s DJ Zaeden aka Sahil Sharma . One could sense the adrenaline gushing through the students amidst the thrill and excitement in the air.
The cultural evening started with some bedazzling performances by the students of BU. The audience witnessed two popular Indian Classical dance forms;Bharatanatyam which was gracefully showcased by duo Japna Batra and Sai Nisita Velagapudi, with Arushi Chaturvedi leaving the crowd awestruck with her Kathak moves. To spice it up, there was a girl’s trio that swept away the stage to some Bollywood tunes, earning applauds and hooting from their audience.
Much to their delight, they were treated with the melodious voices of students from Advaita, the music club of BU who performed some popular tracks and got the students singing along in hundreds. Not just the girls, even the boys set fire on the stage with their ‘beat-boxing’ skills, proving that there is indeed no dearth of talent in the university.
The highlight of the evening was when the Italian artist greeted the students with a ‘Namaskaar’ and tried to converse with the crowd in Hindi and won their hearts with her simplicity and not just her talent.DJ Zaeden too kept the crowd engaged with his popular tracks such as ‘Uncomplicated’ and ended the night with a special track for the ladies.
The happening and eventful evening came to an end but with the promise of delivering much more as the college geared up for the second day. The tired yet joyous faces left the arena looking forward to what awaits them next. For the college and its organisers, the first day was a success!
