Day 4 of ‘Sportikon’ saw Bennett University (BU) emerge victorious in the men’s and women’s categories of shot-put event, taking home gold medals in both categories. Sweety in the women’s category and Siddharth Pratap Singh in the men’s category achieved this feat.

The competition was fierce as players from various colleges participated, each vying for the coveted top spot. In the women’s category, Bennett dominated the competition by winning the gold and silver. Surbhi, with her best throw of 7.40 m, landed the silver medal for BU. Third place on the podium went to Tamanna from Mody University. “It was very tight. Everyone was so good and we were fighting for every metre. I had to bring my A-game to the competition,” said Sweety, whose throw of 8.30 m proved enough for the top spot on the podium.

The men’s competition was just as competitive. However, it was Bennett who once again rose to the occasion and bagged two medals, a gold and a bronze. Siddharth Pratap Singh’s throw of 11.65 m and Manas Chopra’s throw of 10.45 m were enough to get them the gold and the bronze, respectively. Second place went to Utkarsh Chaudhary, Graphic Era University (GEU), who fought a close battle with Siddharth. “He (Utkarsh) was leading till the second attempt. I knew I had to make the third attempt count,” said Siddharth. Utkarsh’s best attempt was of 11.60 m.
