Ansh x Alexis: Bennettians call for blood donation
Bennett University’s dramatics club, Ansh and social help club, Alexis performed a joint ‘Nukkar Natak’(Street Play) on 16 October to raise awareness about the blood donation camp being held next day and why donating one unit of blood can save at least three lives.

While, the audience was captive in the drama being rolled out, Alexis and Bennett students made a promise to donate blood by imprinting pledge boards with red palms.

Gauri Shukla, Secretary, Ansh Club said, “Every day we look for a topicor even a screen play which could inspire our next act , however, the blood donation act came right from our hearts. I don’t know what happened but as soon as we heard about the donation drive we wanted to be associated with the noble cause.”

She added, “I am happy to see the reception among the audience, it has left them with a smile on faces and motive in their hearts, which was how we wanted the play to end.”

Lights Camera Action!

The ‘Nukkad Natak’ was directed to sensitize the audience towards blood donation.

The act started with a dance performance from Siddhartha Dayani, 2nd Year, Times School of Media student. This was followed by the main act the play, which raised slogans of blood donation and how important donating blood is for a person’s healthy life.

Vibhuti Yadav, the director of ‘Nukkad Natak’ and Ansh club member said, “We did this act without any script. It was our pleasure to be part of the unique opportunity. We were planning something of our own as well, this was a link between our last activity and next play.”

Crafting it Best

It was a collaborative effort between the two clubs which also guided their preparations for the blood donation camp.

Club Alexis looked after the logistics, set-up part of the donation club while the Ansh club worked on the promotions.

Saumya Teotia, Joint-Secreatry, Alexis Club said, “We had planned for a donation drive a month ago, however we couldn’t find any right organisation or NGO to work with. We settled on Lions’ club , Noida, that has organised various donation camps. Since then we have worked on the logistics, promotion and miscellaneous work.

Teotia added that club Alexis found a great partner in Ansh club to raise awareness about the event.

Although, this was not the first round, it has left a more sensitized student audience in the university who are willing to be part of more social causes.
