Celebrating women in their true essence

Bennett University’s Sports Department organised an eventful afternoon on the occasion of women’s day on March 8. The day celebrated the ‘bright undying spirit of women’ which was also marked by the colour yellow.
“My respect for women goes up a notch higher every minute,” said Vineet Nehra, Sports Officer.

The afternoon was packed with fun filled games in which faculty members along with students took part and won gift vouchers.

The games played were tie making, bhajjiya eating competition, three-legged race, a hula- hoop competition and it all came to a close with a quiz competition.

“My motive behind keeping the tie making event was that I wanted to tell everyone, ladies are no less. If males can have a saree making competition, we can also have a tie making competition. Women are no less than men,” said Senior Sports Officer, Pratima Singh.

To sweeten the afternoon, a cake cutting ceremony also took place which was followed by a self-written poem recited by Alka Madan, Vice President, Corporate Relations, Bennett University.

To add to the celebrations of the beautiful day, it was announced that a member of the Bennett Fraternity, Priya Mahadevappa, department of IQAC, has been selected from Delhi for Haut Maud Mrs. India World.

“This opportunity came by chance and not by choice. Everyone told me my height was an asset for me and I should try modelling,” said Priya. Addressing the women, she said that women were created to do what man cannot do and being a woman is beauty followed by duty.

The day saw a close with the best dressed in yellow among faculty and students being awarded and a vote of thanks by Chandu Appasani, Sports Captain.

“We stand at par with men and women undoubtedly can do anything and everything. The concept of inferior and superior among the two genders has been long lost,” concluded Pratima.
