Chess at Sportikon: 4 teams reach semi finals

By Shubh Bhardwaj
Four teams will be competing against each other on the 9th of April on the last day of Sportikon to be the Chess Champions at Sportikon- the sports fest organised by the Bennett University.
The final teams in the tournament are Ashoka University, Hansraj College, Shiv Nadar University (A and B) team.

A total of 8 teams participated in the Chess Tournament.

Sharda University did not attend the tournament on Day 2 and gave Bennett University a walkover. However, Bennett University lost 4-0 to Shiv Nadar University and was disqualified.

Hansraj College team emerged as the Pool A winner.
Shiv Nadar University emerged as the Pool B winner.
In the match between Ashoka University and Shiv Nadar University (B). Raghav Chaturvedy, a SNU player caught the king in a trap with two rooks. Placed side to side and ended on a clean clean checkmate!
"I think the level of chess played by my fellow participants has motivated my team here at Bennett, I wish them the best for the finals and expect even more zeal and enthusiasm in the next Sportikon 2024," said Chaitanya, Chess Captain, Bennett University.
The nail biting matches today will clearly bring in more challenges for the four qualified teams as all the players bring in their A game at the league finals on the last day of Sportikon to be the Chess Champions.
