The air at Bennett University is abuzz with excitement with Rivaaz, Cerebrum, Ansh, and Advaita known for dancing, poetry, Drama, and singing, respectively, collaborating to deliver a spectacular programme in tribute to freedom fighters. The clubs have come up with different themes to showcase the spirit of freedom. Working on a short time frame, they are practising day and night to give performances which will touch audience’s hearts.

Rivaaz, Bennett University’s Classical Dance Club, is leaving no stone unturned in preparing for enthusiastic performances. Rivaaz aims to tell the story of India's journey to Independence by giving a tribute to Jhansi Ki Rani and Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Rivaaz will showcase India’s cultural diversity by performing Bhangra, Kathak and Bharatnatyam.

“Our performance is a perfect blend of Bhangra, Kathak and Bharatanatyam. We decided to tell our journey to freedom and the roles of freedom fighters. All the participants are practising with zeal for the Independence Day it takes 2 – 3 hours of practice to make it perfect. The song selections are great and we are sure that audience will enjoy our performances,” Rivaaz member Kamakshi Jagdish Deshmukh said.

Advaita, the singing club, will display the linguistic diversity of India. “Every year, we go with 5-6 patriotic Hindi songs. However, this year, we have come up with something new. We are performing three regional songs in Bengali, Marathi and Punjabi and three in Hindi,” Advaita core member Sanya Bhattacharjee said. Talking about the lack of time, “We didn’t get enough time to prepare. However, togetherness made the practice session easier for us,” she added.

Meanwhile, Cerebrum, the poetry and literary club, will craft verses that highlight the importance of the ideals of the Constitution with pen as their weapon weaving emotions into words, “The Cerebrum will give a four-minute performance, like every year. But it will be something new as we will pay tribute to the ideals of the Constitution and tell you how we should live by them,” Cerebrum Core member Pranavi Ambati said.

Additionally, Ansh, the drama club of BU, will be bringing alive the life and times of shaheed Udham Singh. “It takes time to prepare a skit so we decided to perform only a 5-minute monologue. I have to researched a lot about his early life and revolutionary journeyas also about Jaliahwalah Bagh. Ansh performs on present-day situations. However, we have decided to pay tribute to freedom fighters, although all the research part took two days and then practising for the same is a bit tiring. But it is good to be a part of Independence Day celebrations and pay tribute to such a great freedom fighter," Ansh core member Awiral Anadi Singh said.
