In a world where dreams often take a backseat to societal expectations, one young actor from Kolkata dared to challenge the norms and pursue his passion with unwavering determination. Achintya Bose, the rising star of the Netflix movie "Yeh Ballet," has won the hearts of audiences worldwide with his impeccable performance as Asif, a gifted ballet dancer facing bigotry and disapproval in pursuit of his dreams.

"It feels great. I got to work with such amazing people," says Achintya, beaming with pride about his first major breakthrough in the film industry. Directed and written by the talented Sooni Taraporevala, "Yeh Ballet" follows the real-life journey of Mumbai boys Manish Chauhan and Amiruddin Shah, who overcame numerous obstacles to pursue their passion for ballet. This inspiring tale of determination and friendship resonated with audiences globally, securing a worldwide release in 197 countries.

"Honestly, my research was like, knowing Amir up to a certain point because I grew up in an environment where people were talking about the two boys who worked so hard and achieved what most people just dream of doing," Achintya reveals. His close association with Amir and Manish during his ballet training provided a firsthand insight into his character's emotional journey.

The opportunity to play Asif in "Yeh Ballet" came unexpectedly for Achintya. Sooni Taraporevala, along with Yehuda Maor, the real-life instructor of Amiruddin and Manish, noticed Achintya's talent during a summer workshop showcase. They saw the spark in him and decided he was the perfect fit for the role.

Asif's journey of pursuing his passion despite facing societal pressures resonated deeply with Achintya. Growing up in Kolkata, he understood the struggles many young artists face when following their dreams. "I suppose a certain part of the rebellious nature of Asif resonated with me," he admits, speaking about the personal connections he drew upon to portray the character authentically.

The heartwarming and inspiring message of "Yeh Ballet" touched the hearts of audiences from different cultures and backgrounds. "I cannot believe that someone could say the story so well," a poet from Nepal expressed to Achintya after the screening. The film's universal theme of determination has become a source of strength and motivation for countless aspiring artists worldwide.

Behind the scenes, the collaborative process with the talented ensemble cast and crew played a crucial role in the film's success. Sooni Taraporevala's open approach to filmmaking allowed the actors to brainstorm and explore their characters together, creating a magical synergy on screen. "It was all of that that you guys saw, you know, just coming together and just brainstorming and just doing," Achintya remarks.

Portraying the role of a ballet dancer was no small feat for him and his co-star, Manish Chauhan. Their real-life experiences as ballet students added depth to their performances. Achintya had some basic ballet training before the film, but it was his trainer Cindy who guided him through the rigorous process of mastering intermediate and advanced ballet techniques.

The experience was transformative, not just for Achintya's acting ability but for his personal growth as well. "My body was not necessarily made for ballet," he laughs, reminiscing about his journey from a novice to a seasoned dancer. Despite the challenges, his dedication and perseverance paid off, as his on-screen performances awe-struck audiences with their authenticity and grace.
