Hansraj College wins Chess at Sportikon 2023

Hansraj College of Arts & Commerce won the title of
“When you see a good move, look for a better one.” This quote by Emmanuel Lasker resonated well with the players competing in the game of wits.
“I think we have been playing well consistently since day one and we have put in hard work as a group which is why we did good on every board and won,” said Vardhaman Singh Yadav,
Positions
Shiv Nadar University (A team) secured the second position and Shiv Nadar University (B team) secured the third position.
Numerous tactics were seen today across eight chess boards as players sweated and stressed to defeat their opponent. The armies on the board started falling faster as the clock was ticking and the game of chess started looking like Dominos at one point.
"I think we were playing well till the end game, as we had practiced well for this competition. I personally practiced various strategies of holding the center position at the board, developing the minus pieces first and deciding on a suitable opening. Today was a good learning for us," said Jass Hora, Captain of Shiv Nadar University (A Team).
