How Bennett University turned into a Laugh Club
The literary club of Bennett UniversityCerebrum’ organized the second edition of LMFAO, a stand-up comedy competition, on August 22 for the students to showcase their wit and talent.

This is the second time Cerebrum has organized an open mic session. The theme this time was ‘Log Kya Kahenge’.

The competition kicked-off really well with the first participant Chaitanya Kovid making the audience laugh with his wit and sense of humour. Next came Haaris Beg whose set comprised of jokes on BBA students and how they are the laziest lot of the university with almost no classes since the session started.

Next participant was Satvik Iyenger who engaged the audience throughout with his constant punchlines. He joked how during demonetization he was surprised by the colourful new notes and even asked his dad since when did RBI started supporting the LGBT community. He received an amazing response from the audience.

Next came Aakash Agarwal who built his set around how people absolutely love free things and would do anything to grab them. He joked how people might be thinking he is an anti-national as he was wearing a green t-shirt. He then took off his t-shirt and showed that he was a nationalist as he wore a saffron one beneath it.

Sahil Maddi too received an enormous support from the audience.

Next came Ishaan Srivastava whose set of jokes were built around Bollywood and South Indian movies’ illogical titles. Parth Sharma who came up next did some typical engineering jokes but was quite original with his unique style. Next up was Pratyush Sharma who narrated how he dealt with weight issues throughout his childhood and sportingly joked about himself being fat.

Anmol Thukral was the last participant but really did justice to the mic with a tight set packed with punch lines. The audience roared with laughter as he came up with jokes one by one. His set composed of how life of present students of Bennett has changed with new students coming to the college and claiming not only their classrooms and mess but even the lifts.

In the end the mic was thrown open to audience to come up and joke around if they want. Bharat and Nikhil engaged the audience with their jokes while the Cerebrum Core team was busy in figuring out the winner. A Google form was circulated and people were asked to vote for the one who entertained them the most.

Chaitanya Kovid and Parth Sharma got a “Special Mention” for their excellent performance.

The title of the winner was bagged by two students- Satvik Iyenger and Anmol Thukral. They will now have a face-off during the Fresher’s party and will compete to bag the title of the ultimate winner.
