Nerds have a Uphoric day with Technotix and Cerebrum

By Shravak Shakya

Day two of Uphoria had tons of fun activities and performances in store for the day. But all play and no work makes Jack a dull boy. Hence, Cerebrum (Literary club) and Technotix (Robotics club) hosted some fun yet educational events throughout the day.

Manjunadh Kandavalli, Aakash Dammala, Charith Reddy and Raghavendra Dinesh from BML Munjal won first prize at the Line Following Robot competition organised by Technotix. 10 teams, including five teams from Bennett, participated in making robots of different forms, but all with the same goal, to finish the circuit in the fastest time possible and not stray from their paths. The competition had a prize pool of 4,500 and gift vouchers worth ₹15,000. Organiser Himank Sharma (BTech) said that even though no team from Bennett finished in the top three, the first year students gained a lot of experience exposure through the event.

Cerebrum hosted two events during day two, Parabellum, an open conventional debate competition and LMFAO, a comedy competition for Bennettians. Raksha Tandon and Ishita Batra from JIIT bagged top spot at Parabellum, with Raksha also adjudged Best Speaker of the competition. Parabellum had 13 teams in total debating on various topics. The competition was judged by School of Media’s Prof. Ramesh Kumar. The winners were rewarded with cash prizes.

With a chance to open for Comicstaan winner Aakash Gupta on the final day of Uphoria, Vinayak Joshi (BTech) was voted the best standup comedian of Bennett by the crowd. Vinayak had his audience in fits of laughter with a mixture of dark humour and relatable punchlines. Jarvis Prem Raj (BTech) and Dhruv Dhankar (BAJMC) finished the competition second and third respectively.
