Baisakhi, celebrated culturally by many religious and cultural groups as a harvest festival all over the country, marks the beginning of a new solar year. Keeping in mind the cultural diversity represented by the students of Bennett University, NSS BU (National Service Scheme) organized a kite flying competition on the 14th of April, 2023.

The information about the competition was disseminated through an official mail which also had the registration form link of the competition. Each team could have a maximum of 6 members and had to register for the competition by filling out the form and paying a fee of Rs 300.
A total of 30 teams were present at the competition. The winning team would get a cash prize of Rs 2000, followed by the runners up and the 2nd runners up getting Rs 1000 and Rs 500 respectively.
At the time of the competition, speakers were set up to spark up the environment for the festival. Registration desks were present at the N block stage where the registered teams had to come to collect their kites and other required items. Due to the hot weather, arrangements of water coolers and snacks were taken care of by the University’s own Food and Cuisine club.

A very competitive spirit was seen among the teams as their kites were fighting high up in the sky to prevail. The contest was so tight that the competition took another turn towards the end and there was a tie-breaker between Team 2 and Team 15 to decide the winner. Team 15 came out on top at the end and the audience was seen cheering for them.

Overall, a very joyous environment was seen amongst everyone present there, be it participants, be it the food club, be it NSS itself or people just there to watch the competition unfold.
