Pulse, the event management club of Bennett University, organized a fun little event for the students in campus to enjoy their Sunday evening. Foil cricket is a game that almost every student has played at one point of time in their school lives in India. “We wanted to invoke that nostalgia of our school lives and have fun at the same time, foil cricket seemed to be the best way to do both together,” said Siddhant Poddar, the mentor for Pulse.
A total of 8 teams were allowed to register with 5 players in each team and a minimum of 2 girls required for healthy representation. The matches were played in a knockout format, each of consisting of 5 overs. The bat used for this game was a writing board whereas the ball was made up of aluminium foil.
The 8 teams that registered for the event were Shimmers, BU Super Kings, RCB Fans, CR7, Sassy, Obsidia, Jammu Titans and Joy Boys. A total of 7 matches were played, with of them going to super over as well, the final saw Shimmers face off against the Jammu Titans, with the Shimmers emerging victorious with a total score of 76 runs.
“We all had a very nice experience participating in the event, although we lost the match with a super over it was really fun playing the game with my friends,” said Devagya Raghav, a B-tech first year student from the team Obsidia.
The club had also arranged for prize pools, with the team coming first winning Rs.1ooo, the team at second place getting Rs.800 and the team coming third getting Rs.600.
