I visited Bhimtal, Uttarakhand, with my family for a vacation in 2018. Natural beauty can be seen everywhere, and the area is incredibly quiet and serene. Away from the hectic, loud activities of city life, it is the ideal location.

In that sense, it is also less crowded because not many tourists come here. Once we got there, we rested in the tent for the first day while taking advantage of the neighbourhood market. We were then told by a local that we could attempt paragliding and other extreme sports. That marked a pivotal moment because after that, my happiness knew no bounds. We developed a strong desire to engage in numerous risky activities, including flying.

The following morning, we all woke up early to get ready for paragliding. People were shouting, laughing, taking pictures, and enjoying their first flight as we got closer to the adventure camp. There was no end to my excitement. It was comparable to a movie scene. The mountains appeared even more stunning from a distance as we approached the location, and clouds appeared to be approaching quickly. The teacher described the paragliding mechanism to us and went over the rules and regulations.

The front of the wing receives air pressure from the inside as well as forces from the outside air. Without utilising an engine, paragliders can fly for considerable periods of time and travel tens of kilometres. After a protracted wait, it was finally my turn, and I was also exhausted. I was ecstatic to experience birdlike flight. I was attached to by several ropes, but despite that, it seemed light. My mind was boggled by the security quotient, but it vanished quickly. My guide was the pilot, who was seated at my back. The ground vanished from under my feet after a little period of running on the mountains. I spun about for a few seconds before taking up into the air.

When I was above the clouds, I had the sensation of being weightless and was able to move with ease in the wind's direction. I had some anxiety before we took off, but when my pilot reassured me, I felt more at ease and was simply taking it all in. Four to five minutes later, my pilot was getting ready to land. Once more, I was back on the ground in a matter of seconds. I felt a great sense of joy, fulfilment, and satisfaction.

I was comparing my experience after landing to Neil Armstrong's moon landing experience as I was walking away. Beyond all comparison, the experience was indescribable. The sport turned out to be much more than just a pastime. We were all incredibly happy we gave it a try. It made me realise the strength, intelligence, and capability of the human mind for having produced such a magnificent object at the same time. I had never felt that way before; in fact, I felt like a superhuman.
