How vast isBennett University ’s knowledge of Japanese animation?
The answer was definitively tested this week as theAnime Club successfully hosted the fifth annual edition of its flagship trivia event, Classroom of the Cultured (COTC 5.0). The event, held on November 12, transformed Lecture Hall 101 into a high-stakes arena for anime aficionados eager to prove their encyclopaedic mastery.

The Road to Victory: Three Rounds of Escalating Difficulty
Dubbed a “Slice of Life” theme for its cosy yet competitive atmosphere, COTC 5.0 pushed participants through three progressively challenging rounds. Students were required to form teams of three, fuelling the competitive spirit with eliminations beginning after the first round.
The Initial stage was a General Quiz Round conducted via an online platform, demanding quick recall with only 20 seconds allotted per question. The host’s rallying cry, “Weebs working for Weebs!” set a high-energy tone. Team 6 notably dominated this round, showcasing deep collective knowledge.
The competition intensified in the second stage, an Audio-Visual Round, which tested recognition skills across diverse anime genres. The final showdown, a thrilling Rapid-Fire Round, saw the top three standing teams send out a single representative to compete head-to-head for the title.

Champions Crowned and Future Plans
After an evening of laughter, chaos, and intense buzzer-beating moments, the team comprising Nalin Thakur, Ayush Jain, and Sukant Aryan emerged victorious, securing coveted anime merchandise and Amazon vouchers.
“This event is the culmination of all the passion in the club. It’s amazing to see so many Bennettians know every minute detail, whether it’s a popular show or something like ‘Re: Zero,’ which one of the participants mentioned as their favourite,” commented an Anime Club representative.

The COTC 5.0 finale caps off a busy semester for the Anime Club, which previously engaged freshers with the Chunin Exams in August and celebrated Halloween with a popular Cosplay Walk and a comedic murder-mystery skit. The success of COTC 5.0 firmly establishes the event as a central fixture in the university’s cultural calendar.
