Some weekends you can feel in the numbers. For Bennett University's sports contingent, that was 2 to 4 October at IIT Roorkee's Sangram'26, which ended with 14 medals (6 Gold, 5 Silver, 3 Bronze) and one MVP honour.

Starting with kabaddi, because that's where the noise was loudest. The squad won gold, an
d the face of it was Harsh Sehrawat, a B.Tech CSE student of the 2023-2027 batch, who took the MVP title. Anyone who has watched kabaddi knows one raider can't win it alone, though. Daksh Panghal, Shlesh Singh, Satyam Phogat, Sahil, Priyanshu Katara, Shubham, Dev Singh, Harshit Kaushik and Suraj all had a hand in it.

Then comes our women's powerlifting team quietly did something just as big. Manu Gangwar, Bagisha Roy and Vandana Chaudhary swept the podium between them with one gold, one silver and one bronze. Nobody shouts in powerlifting. You walk up, you lift, and the result speaks for you.

Now, on the tracks of IIT Roorkee, Aarsh Kamboj, Ankur Singh, Chandra Raj and Dhruv Prajapati put the sprint events on the board. There were individual golds in both the 100m and 200m, plus a bronze in the 4x100m relay. Winning a sprint takes a few seconds, but it takes months of mornings to get there.

Taekwondo was the biggest haul of the weekend, with five medals (2 Gold, 3 Silver) from Shahrukh Khan, Madhav Chaudhary, Pranjal Goyal, Ishika Singh, Kashvi Garg and Soumili Rano. Five medals from one sport means a lot of people showed up ready.
Then there were the quieter wins. Abhilipsa Mallick and Myra Tyagi finished as runners-up in women's lawn tennis, a silver earned over a run through the women's division.

And in snooker, Nishit Nama, Tanmay Agarwal, Aklavya Khare and Parth Singhal took bronze. Snooker doesn't get stadium crowds, but it asks for nerve and patience, and they had both.

It's easy to read a medal tally and move on. But behind every number there's a student who skipped a weekend, juggled a lab schedule, or trained when nobody was watching. The university has congratulated the athletes, captains and coaches, and it should. They carried Bennett's name into a big, competitive college festival and came back with a lot to show for it.

So, congratulations to every one of them. Bennett's sports story this October is about a whole contingent that showed up, and the 14 medals followed.
