What is the first thing that comes to our mind when we think about justice? Is it just punishing a culprit or does it mean to ensure the law, institutions and society respond fairly to those affected by a crime? Daayra revolves around the heinous crimes against women and diligently conveys the complicated space between law, justice and
accountability. Directed by Meghna Gulzar starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithiviraj Sukumaran the film sets the narrative around the legal system and how society responds to crime against women.

Students of Bennett University had an opportunity to attend a special screening of Daayra on September 16 in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, also it was such a great experience to watch a movie before anyone else watches it. This was not just about the movie it also brought cinema, journalism and interactive session with the star
cast. The students were accompanied by faculty members, Dean of Times School of Media.

The screening gave students an opportunity to meet the film's lead cast and director Kareena Kapoor Khan, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Meghna Gulzar. The film is produced by Junglee Pictures and later released in theatres on September 18.

Following the screening, students took part in an interactive Q&A session with the star cast and director, allowing them to hear directly about the making of the film and its central questions around crime, law and justice. The cast and director have also spoken publicly about the film's focus on the grey areas between law
and justice.

The experience extended beyond the auditorium. Students were given food coupons and got the opportunity to participate in promotional activities surrounding the film. They created reels, clicked photographs with the cast and took part in interviews with journalists covering the event. For students interested in media and communication, being on the other side of a media event offered a different perspective on how a film is presented, discussed and promoted before its release.

For many, the evening was therefore not just about watching Daayra, but about experiencing how cinema, journalism, publicity and public conversations around social issues come together. The event gave students a glimpse into the media environment surrounding a major film while allowing them to engage directly
with the people who created it.
