“I’m curious!”

If this phrase is something you resonate with, then this anime is the one for you.

Hyouka is a story weaved around a boy named Oreki Hotarou, who values conserving his energy over anything else. His life motto? “If I don’t have to do something, I won’t and if I have to do it, I’ll do it quickly.” (Ah.. relatable)

But as it happens in most animated gems, Oreki’s life takes a turn when he’s asked to join his school’s Classic Literature Club by his sister. The story unfurls from his first day at the club, where he meets Chitanda Eru, who becomes a close friend and introduces him to a world full of mysteries.

During the series, we get to meet well-crafted characters, solid plotlines, breathtaking animations and magical soundtracks. But what makes “Hyouka” stand out is the attention to detail. The animation is flawless and every frame is crafted with care, giving the series a rich feel. (major kudos to KyoAni)

The storytelling is nuanced and subtle, with mysteries that require attention to detail to solve. The series explores themes of friendships, personal growth, love, and the importance of staying curious about the world around us.

The main characters are multi-dimensional, with unique personalities that complement each other nicely. The mysteries and puzzles leave you feeling clueless until it comes together and you shout, “Man, that was right in front of me!Hyouka really adds magic to ordinary school life with its unique style.

In conclusion, although “Hyouka” is a perfect watch for literally anyone, it’s a much watch for fans of the mystery/thriller and slice-of-life genres. It’s a beautiful series and is a sure shot to captivate viewers from the first episode, right down to the OVA.
