No one can forget the year 2020, especially the day when the lockdown was declared by our Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi on 25th March 2020. It was only for 21 days but later it was extended to 31st May 2020. For the first few weeks, people enjoyed staying at home as it was relaxing for them but then later it became a problem for everyone as no one could go out of their houses. The coronavirus changed everything. The pandemic has taught us so many things and one of them is that we should not be dependent on anyone. Okay now let me explain this statement. Many people didn’t know cooking or do other household chores they were dependent on their maids. But during lockdown when we all were restrained in our houses they had no other option. Either they had to learn everything or order food online and it could have been dangerous because you never know who might be carrying the virus. Unsurprisingly, the pandemic has triggered a wave of mental health issues. Well, the most common issues are stress, anxiety, depression, and loneliness or isolation. Immigrant workers faced multiple hardships. With factories and workplaces shut down due to the lockdown imposed in the country, had to deal with the loss of income and food shortages. They began walking home with no means of transport. There were measures taken by the government but many workers complained that they did not get what the government assured or promised to do so. A survey published by “The Hindu” revealed that 96% of migrant workers did not get rations from the government and 90% of the workers did not receive wages during the lockdown. Ultimately, the pandemic has taught us that a healthy population is one of our nation’s most important assets. Good health is key to economic growth and should be at the heart of the leveling-up agenda. But not only bad things happened at that time. The person who didn’t even wash their hands after coming back to the house took bath before touching anything in the house. People cared so much about personal hygiene. They wore masks, sanitized their hands after every half an hour, and maintained a distance from each other. For some people, the lockdown and coronavirus were a tsunami that ruined everything but for some people, it was an opportunity to work on themselves. Many people completed their course online and created new interests and hobbies like painting, cooking, and music and learned it. We also saw or witnessed that when industries were closed the air was clean and there was no pollution. The air quality index of cities like Delhi and Mumbai was under control and people could breathe fresh air. And the water was clean as the industrial waste was not dumped in the river. Dolphins were spotted at Mumbai ’s Marine Drive , also sparrows and various migratory birds returned to Delhi . After a long time, this has happened. Well, we can conclude that the pandemic has taught us to adapt, change and modernize ourselves.
No one can forget the year 2020, especially the day when the lockdown was declared by our Prime Minister Mr.
