The rivalry between RCB and MI is looked upon as one of the most interesting battles of IPL. When this rivals met at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in their opening match of the tournament, the hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registers their first win of the tournament by winning the match with 8 wickets.
The match had a slow start with Mumbai Indians (MI) batting first and RCB bowlers & fielders showing very high intensity in the game with their efforts. Soon after MI was 3 down the game changer for MI, Tilak Verma entered the ground keeping the game steady for his team even after continuous fall of wickets from the other side and with his brilliant knock of 84(46) not out, MI managed to reach a fighting total with 171 runs from their side. Young Tilak Verma has time and again showed his value as an asset since the past season securing his spot in the team.
When The Challengers came to bat in order to chase that 172 on board Captain Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli looked well prepared and controlled the game dominating the MI bowlers completely leading to a 100+ runs partnership for the duo. It looked quiet easy how this two smashed the balls out of the park against some quality pacers like Jofra Archer, who was a new addition in the squad. After the fall of Faf & DK's wicket, the Big Show came into the play with hitting 2 back to back and Virat Kohli ending the game with a six giving the glimpse of what this mentor MSD did 12 years back on the same day in the 2011 WC final making it a night to remember for the fans.
RCB will look forward to take this momentum forward in their next games.
