Staying away from home for studies makes it important for all of us to find people who would be there for us when we need them. I always had a group of friends back in Bhopal with whom I was very close. They were my close friends since the sixth grade and as we grew older, the bond got stronger. I had a great time but when it was time for us to decide on our colleges, it was a little hard for me to accept the fact that there might be just these few months that all of us would hang out together.
I was extremely very close to them and they were like family to me who also came to drop me off at the airport when I left for college. The whole time I feared thinking about how difficult it would be for me to make new friends. From having a totally new person to getting new friends was a bit of a task because the place was very new to me.
My roommate was coincidentally from Bhopal too, so it was easy for me to talk to her and share a room for the next three years of my college life. Her nature was very kind and welcoming which made it easy for me. Going to the hotspots, doing assignments together and attending classes together was fun until we both realised that we would have to start talking to other people too. It was she who introduced me to the other two girls who live across the hall. Now it was not just the two of us but the four of us who used to do things together in college. We bonded quickly with them and there were many days that all of us used to have sleepovers in each other’s rooms. There were also times when one used to fight with another but in time, we realised that fighting with each other would not help any of us. It takes a lot to live far away from your parents and with people that you do not know for a very long time.
Life seems now much easy with these them because they are the ones whom I can rely, to whom I can share my feelings too, to whom I can come and whine about stuff that happened in the college that day, to whom I can go the mess to or even to whom I can call my small family.
